My little Cadet

The other night Mason brought me an Aggie Savvy book that he wanted me to read to him. One of the pictures was of three Senior Corp of Cadet members wearing their senior boots and the caption read "Always wear a good pair of boots". Well being as Derrek was in the Corp of Cadets for four years we have a pair of those boots in our house. Derrek asked Mason if he wanted to see daddy's boots and of course Mason said yes. So Derrek went to our master closet to fish out his boots (which sadly have been in their carriers since Derrek graduated). For those of you who dont know, senior boots are a BIG deal. They are the accumulation of three years of blood, sweat and sometimes tears in the corp. These boots are a visible symbol of who is king of the mountain when walking on the A&M campus. Derrek LOVES his boots and bringing them out so show to his son was HUGE!!

Four Months

Well I cant believe that it has already been four months that Samantha has been with us. Thats right, today is her four month birthday. First thing this morning she had a Dr appointment. She is weighing in at 14 pounds 12 ounces (which is the 90th percentile) and is now 24.5 inches long (the 50th percentile). Thank goodness she has lengthened out and is no longer in the 10th percentile. And though her weight seems a bit chunky monkey, I did look up Mason's stats at this age and he weighed even more then she does at this age. :) All in all baby girl Lerouax is doing great. She is cooing and talking to us like crazy and she is reaching out for her toys and putting her hands together. She also loves to smile and is laughing too which is so cute to listen to. She is right on target for her age. In some Mason news we have started the long and slow process of potty training and he is doing great! The first day was rough and he only managed peeing on the potty once the whole day but day two has been great and he has gone on the potty FIVE times today. We are so proud of him doing so good and being so willing to work with us on it. Life is good!!

Samantha showing off her great smile.

Though she is making this silly face I love this picture b/c it shows her eye color. Amazingly they are NOT brown.

Fun times on our new playset

Yay!! We have finally had decent enough weather for us to go out and play on the playset. The fall protection finally got put down a few weeks ago and it looks great and takes up the entire backyard :) Mason loves to play on his set (as he calls it). Some of his friends have even come over to enjoy it as well. On days when it is just him mommy and daddy will join in on the fun too.

Mason swinging like a champ!

This was how he got so high

Mommy decided to join the swinging fun

Now its daddy's turn to play

Ahoy Matey!

Time to slide and daddy is first

Then Mason

We have lots of fun times ahead of us on our new playset. Cant wait till both kids can play on it together. :)

Keep it on the tile

So due to the fact that we have beige (you can see every little thing on them) carpets we had to start a new rule with Mason about no juice on the carpet. He kept leaving his sippy's laying on the floor and they would slowly start to drip out creating not so cute little stains everywhere. Anyways, anytime he has a sippy he has to stay on the tile while drinking it. He is not the biggest fan of this rule now that he has a t.v. in his upstairs playroom. He "technically" is not allowed to take his sippy's up there b/c the entire upstairs is carpeted. So the other day as he was going up the stairs to watch the Little Einsteins (his new favorite) I said "Mason, keep your juice on the tile please." A few minutes later this is what I found.

How hilarious is that? He left it right at the bottom of the stairs on the tile. What a little smarty pants :)

Mr. Helper and Miss Smiley

Yesterday afternoon while Mommy and Samantha were taking a nap Daddy and Mason headed out to the garage. Derrek has been hard at work making benches for a table that Mason has in his play room and a little stool for mason to stand on for when he goes to the potty. Before anyone gets excited let me just clarify that no he is not going pee pee on the potty yet. :( Anyways, I needed all these benches and stools primed so that I can paint them primary colors for the playroom and that is the project that Mason and daddy worked on yesterday.

Here are the benches and the stool

And here is Mason hard at work

He did a great job priming all the benches. Now its mommy who needs to get it in gear and paint them pretty colors. :) Now for some Samantha news. This little girl is a smiley one. She certainly gives up a smile much easier then Mason ever did. She is also very ticklish. Her tickle spot just happens to be her belly. It is so funny to listen to her try to laugh. Sometimes she does it but most of the time it comes out as a grunty noise. She has recently started to just giggle at me randomly which I absolutely LOVE!!

Here she is smiling it up as the cutest centerpiece I have ever had on my table

Here are some of here tickle pictures from yesterday

This picture I thought was too funny so I am posting it for everyones enjoyment. This is her Elvis Lip :)

Have a great week everyone!!

Dinner and a Movie

So I have a group of girlfriends that I playdate with that we have jokingly arranged our childrens marriages to each other just so that we as mother in laws will get along. Silly we know but pretty funny all the same. So anyways, Mason has been paired with the cutie patootie Evie Whiteside. These two have officially had their first date. :) We went over to a friends house to watch the National Championship game and the Whitesides were there too. We took Mason's portable DVD player with us so that he could be entertained while we watched the game. Well little did we know that this would turn into dinner and a movie for the kids. It was so adorable to watch them.

Dinner and...

a movie.

Happy 2010!!!

Happy New Year!!! I cant believe that it is already the year 2010. So here is a question for you all, are you a twenty ten person or a two thousand and ten person? Funny enough Derrek is a two thousand and ten person and I am a twenty ten person. The way you figure this out is when you read the first sentence of this post did you say it twenty ten or two thousand and ten. Weird how one comes more naturally then the other. Okay so on with my post :)

We had a GREAT new year. The whole Gonzalez side of the family went over to my sister Ronnie's house. My parents and ALL six siblings were there (which does not happen often). It was a night of great food, great drinks and great company. We played games and watched movies and popped fireworks. We didnt want anyone on the roads after midnight so we ALL stayed at my sisters. Thats right we had a giant 20 person slumber party. SO MUCH FUN!! I hope that everyone had a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May the year 2010 bring great things to you all.
