We have hit the BIG TIME!

Well my baby boy has started Kindergarten!! This is officially "The BIG TIME". I feel like this is the point where I have officially become a "real" mom. haha! Now I have to wake up before they do and have breakfast made and lunches packed. I have to wake him up in the morning and he HAS to be there on time. The paperwork I received on the night of meet the teacher had in bold shouty capitals 8:01 is TARDY!!! Yikes!! I will now be joining a PTO and doing homework in the afternoons with him. All of my parenting responsibilities have now been taken up a notch. I guess I can do nothing but get use to it right? :)

Anyways, he had his first day yesterday and he was very excited!! We managed to be up early enough to get a good photo shoot of both kids together (Samantha started MDO yesterday as well) and daddy went into work late so that he could come along. Mason really likes his teacher (which I am grateful for) and she does seem to be a very sweet lady. When I picked him up he was very excited and when I asked him how his day was he said (and I quote) "AWESOME!". What more could I ask for in a first day at a new school, with a new teacher and new faces?  Here is to hoping he holds on to that enthusiasm for school for a VERY VERY long time.

I am so proud of him for taking everything in stride. I am also excited for him as well. This is the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Yes, there may be disappointments, hurts and failures but there will also be great adventures, wonderful moments and huge accomplishments as well. As much as it hurts to see him growing up so quickly, I am super excited to see how GREAT he is going to be!!

The big 5 (from way back in March and May)

Mason turned 5 back in March (yes I know he is closer to 5.5 now but oh well). The big 5!! It really is one of those ages where you just cant believe that your baby is THAT old (haha)! Where did the years go? On his birthday we took him to Chuck E Cheese for his special birthday lunch and then got him a personal sized cookie cake for his dessert after dinner.

His birthday party was set for the next day BUT as luck would have it he got incredibly sick in the middle of the night and we ended up having to CANCEL his birthday party. Being the laid back kid that he is I think that I was more devastated then he was about it. Luckily the venue we chose for his birthday party was awesome enough to let us reschedule with out any problem which was the good news, the bad news was we couldn't do it till May. At this point we were just rolling with it so May it was.

Star Wars was the fascination at the time (which I thought was so awesome b/c I am a closet sci fi nerd)

Overall it was a success (even if it did take place 2 months after he turned 5). He had fun and all his friends had fun and there is nothing more important then that!
